For the sixth consecutive year, New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) is a Top 50 Best Value College in The Princeton Review’s annual ranking of public institutions.
At No. 22 in the 2027 edition, NJIT climbed seven spots this year and is the only university in New Jersey included in the Top 50 Public School ranking. NJIT has maintained a consistent presence in The Princeton Review’s broader list of Best Value Colleges since its inception in 2018. That too is a highly selective list, with less than a third of the universities and colleges that the review considered making the cut this year.
In addition, NJIT has again made the top 10 on The Princeton Review’s list of the Top 20 Best Career Placement among public schools — the only New Jersey university to make the list, which includes national peers such as Georgia Institute of Technology, the University of California and the University of Michigan.
The value ranking is based on 40 metrics that measure academics, affordability and career preparation. Best career placement reflects how students rate career services and the salaries that graduates earn. This combination of recognitions received by NJIT is indicative of a high-quality education that opens the door to rewarding jobs.

Out of more than 650 colleges and universities surveyed for this project, the 209 public and private Best Value Colleges for 2026 is alphabetical and the top 50 list of public Best Value Colleges represents those that scored highest for return-on-investment. The latest recognition adds to a series of national rankings highlighting NJIT’s academic quality, value and student outcomes:
- The Princeton Review includes NJIT among its Best 392 Colleges for 2027 and ranks its undergraduate entrepreneurship program No. 33 nationally and No. 5 in the Northeast.
- In the Wall Street Journal/College Pulse 2026 Best Colleges rankings, NJIT was the No. 1 public university in New Jersey for both value and alumni salary outcomes, ranking No. 42 nationally for Best Value and No. 25 for Best Salary.
- Most recently, TIME ranked NJIT the No. 1 public university in New Jersey and No. 38 among public institutions nationally in its inaugural America’s Best Colleges 2026–2027 ranking.
