The NJIT men's volleyball program moved up one spot to No. 11 in the recent National Volleyball Association (NVA)/American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division I-II Men's Coaches top-15 poll the organization announced on Monday.
Previously ranked No. 12, NJIT moved up one spot after a weekend EIVA road series sweep at No. 14 George Mason.
NJIT, which has won seven in a row (the most victories in a row since 2017), improved to 9-3 overall and 9-1 in the EIVA.
The Highlanders cracked into the top-15 poll in week four, after a weekend split at then-ranked No. 11 Penn State on February 14, marking the first time in program history. The win for the Highlanders marked the first time since 1998 NJIT defeated Penn State.
Since the victory at Penn State, NJIT has won its last five matches, moving to 7-3 overall, 7-1 in the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA) and 4-0 at home inside NJIT's Wellness and Events Center.
NJIT opened the 2021 season against Loyola-Chicago and took then-ranked No. 4 Lewis to five sets as the Flyers prevailed, 3-2.
