NJIT Alumnus Jordan Hu Named Finalist for Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year

Jordan Hu ’89, CEO of RiskVal Financial Solutions, and a distinguished alumnus of New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), has been named a finalist for the prestigious Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year New Jersey award. Now in its 40th year, the award celebrates entrepreneurs who are shaping the future through groundbreaking companies.
Hu's journey embodies the American dream. From his initial move to the United States from Taiwan with limited resources, his dedication propelled him to launch RiskVal Financial Solutions, a multimillion-dollar global enterprise.
His path to CEO of RiskVal began with encouragement from colleagues to explore consulting opportunities. He then identified a critical gap in the financial industry: the need for real-time risk assessment in fixed-income transactions. Drawing upon his expertise, he developed a customized, next-generation fixed-income trading platform for Credit Suisse. This experience proved pivotal, providing the impetus and foundation for RiskVal.
In 2001, Hu launched RiskVal as a self-funded startup. His deep understanding of financial engineering, coupled with a commitment to providing exceptional service, laid the groundwork for a tool that would become ubiquitous in trading. Hu brought together a team of highly experienced and knowledgeable quantitative analysts and software engineers to create a front office platform that was not only powerful but flexible to evolve with the market in real-time.
RiskVal's initial success stemmed from its ability to offer precise and innovative solutions tailored to the evolving needs of traders and portfolio managers.
Today, Hu leads RiskVal Financial Solutions, a global SaaS provider specializing in fixed income pre-trade analytics (RVFI) and risk and portfolio management (RVPortfolio). RiskVal leverages real-time market data and over two decades of historical data to provide traders and portfolio managers with critical insights. The company supports over 1,000 active portfolio managers from various financial institutions with its exceptional customer service, precise financial engineering and innovative solutions.
According to EY, this year’s finalists are bold entrepreneurs making a lasting impact in their industries and communities. The finalists were selected by an independent panel of judges based on their entrepreneurial spirit, purpose, growth and impact.
This honor adds to Hu's already impressive list of accomplishments. In 2024, NJIT renamed its College of Science and Liberal Arts in his honor, recognizing his historic gift to the university. Further insights into his journey and impact can be found in “Making a Difference in Real Time.”
