NJIT Alumni Make ROI-NJ's List of 2021 ROI Influencers: People of Color
ROI-NJ recognized two alumni of New Jersey Institute of Technology as “difference makers” in its list of 2021 ROI Influencers: People of Color.
The honorees, Elisa Charters and Marjorie Perry, remain connected to NJIT via board service. Charters is a member of the university’s Board of Trustees, Hispanic Latinx Leadership Council and the Advisory Board for its Martin Tuchman School of Management, while Perry chairs the university's Board of Overseers.
Charters, who earned two degrees at NJIT — a bachelor’s in environmental science/science, technology and society science and master’s in environmental science/chemical engineering — is the co-founder and president of nonprofit advocacy organization Latina Surge and a principal at EAC Business International.
Perry, who holds a master’s in business administration from NJIT, is president and CEO of MZM Construction Co. in Newark.
Now in its third year, the ROI Influencers: People of Color celebrates talented people in business, economic development and education. A full list of the honorees can be found here.
The latest ROI-NJ recognition comes a month after the publication named three NJIT leaders to its list of 2021 ROI Influencers: Higher Education: President Joel S. Bloom, who's Influencer of the Year, Provost and Senior Executive Vice President Fadi P. Deek and Simon Nynens, CEO of NJIT’s New Jersey Innovation Institute. That list also honored real estate investor and developer Paul Profeta for endowing the launch of two new education and research centers at NJIT.
