New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) remains the top-ranked educational institution in New Jersey on Forbes’ 2026 list of America’s Best Employers by State.
Among the 90 organizations recognized in New Jersey, NJIT ranked:
- No. 1 among educational institutions
- No. 8 among employers headquartered in the state
- No. 23 overall
Forbes developed the eighth annual ranking in partnership with market research firm Statista. More than 245,000 employees working for U.S. organizations with at least 500 employees participated in the survey, evaluating employers on factors including wages, workplace culture, professional advancement and how organizations respond to serious workplace issues.
“NJIT’s faculty and staff are catalysts for the success of our students and graduates, our culture of innovation and research prowess, and our contributions to the community and the state,” said NJIT Interim President John A. Pelesko. “Their dedication strengthens our university and makes NJIT an exceptional place to learn, work and create, so it is a priority for us to foster an environment where people can grow professionally and feel personally connected to our mission.”
Respondents also rated how likely they were to recommend their employer and evaluated previous employers and other organizations they knew through their industries, friends or family. The scoring incorporated survey data from the previous three years, with greater weight given to recent responses and evaluations from current employees within each state.
The 2026 rankings included 1,365 employers across the country, some of which appeared on lists in multiple states. The full rankings and methodology are available through Forbes.
