The NJIT women's tennis team recorded a 5-2 victory over visiting FDU Sunday morning inside The Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreational Facility. NJIT, which remains undefeated at home, standing at 2-0 and 2-2 overall, won five out of the six singles matches to earn the 5-2 home victory. FDU took the doubles point and picked up a point at fourth singles.

Growing up in Union City, Shanell Encalada ’26 spoke Spanish at home with her parents, helping them out by translating important documents. Tara Alvarez, a distinguished professor of biomedical engineering at NJIT, won first place in the inaugural Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University (PMU) / National Academy of Inventors (NAI) International Patent Award competition. Kaya Can Kaya, a final-year MBA student at NJIT with a concentration in finance, recently achieved success in the AmplifyME Investment Banking Simulation, earning first place out of 107 participants. Kaya also ranked second in the AmplifyME Banking Accelerator Simulation Experience, which included a competitive M&A analysis segment, achieving a perfect accuracy rate in Excel financial modeling.

Presented by the New Jersey Diverse Business Advisory Council (NJDBAC) and other state business organizations, the event will bring together industry leaders, policymakers and stakeholders at NJIT’s Newark campus.

NJIT swept visiting Saint Francis U, 3-0, in men's volleyball non-conference action inside the Joel and Diane Bloom Wellness and Events Center Saturday evening. NJIT won in straight sets – 25-21, 25-22 and 25-23 to earn the Highlanders its third straight win of the season and improving to 3-2 overall. Saint Francis U moves to 1-6 on the year.
