Simon, an associate professor of chemical engineering, researches new methods to improve the delivery of controlled-release drug therapies.

The NJIT women's fencing team posted a 5-1 mark at the FDU Invitational Sunday afternoon. NJIT recorded wins over Wagner (18-8), Tufts (20-7), Brandeis (14-13), Drew (15-12) and CCNY (22-5). The lone loss on the day for the Highlanders came against NYU (16-11). The foil squad was led by Annalena Shigihara, who posted an 11-5 overall record followed by Paloma Almodovar with a 10-6 record. For the season, Almodovar posted a 44-17 mark with a 72 percent win rate.

The NJIT baseball team remains undefeated in 2019 after a doubleheader sweep at Norfolk State, 11-5 and 4-3 in a 10-inning nightcap Sunday afternoon at Marty L. Miller Field. The 5-0-1 start for the Highlanders is the best start in the Division I era (first season 2006-07). NJIT opened its spring campaign with a four-game series against Eastern Michigan, registering a 3-0-1 record and picked up a pair of wins at Norfolk State on Sunday.

Finishing 11th in TESPA’s regular season rankings with a record of 13-2, the Highlanders have punched their ticket to the tournament. More than 400 colleges and universities take part in TESPA’s Overwatch league, where students test their skills and earn scholarship money.
