Message from NJIT President Lim
Dear Highlanders,
We have been witnessing a tragedy in Israel, Gaza, and beyond following heinous acts of terror that included unconscionable violence and the degradation of innocent people, and which have resulted in the loss of thousands of human lives. I mourn those who have died and offer my sympathy to their families, friends, and loved ones, while understanding that, at times like these, words and gestures feel profoundly inadequate.
I am not the first nor the most informed voice to share thoughts on this crisis. I know, however, that the best action I can take at this time is to uphold NJIT’s core values and foster a climate of civility – one in which we hear and contemplate one another's diverse views, treat each other with respect and honor, but unequivocally denounce violence, terror, and the inhumane acts that rob us of our individual and collective dignity.
Many members of our university community have expressed their feelings, their fears, their frustrations, and their anger to me in recent days. I have listened and learned and sought to support those with whom I have spoken during this grievous time. My sadness for all those directly affected by these atrocities is profound, and my thoughts are with them, as well as the members of our NJIT community who are suffering.
Sincerely,
NJIT President Teik C. Lim
