Men's Volleyball Wins Seventh Straight on Senior Night

The NJIT men's volleyball team won its seventh straight victory of the season with a 3-1 victory over Harvard in EIVA Conference action in the season finale for both teams Saturday evening inside the Joel and Diane Bloom Wellness and Events Center.
NJIT, which will advance to its fifth consecutive EIVA Conference Tournament, will be the No. 2 seed. The Highlanders improved to 14-12 overall and 8-4 in the EIVA.
The 14 wins are the most wins since the 2022 season with the Highlanders reached the EIVA Conference finals and concluded the season with a 17-11 overall mark. The eight wins in league play are the second-highest win-total since 2022 when NJIT finished 10-6. The seven straight victories are the most since the 2022 season.
NJIT won the first two sets Saturday 25-19 and 25-23 but the Crimson rallied back in the third frame to force a fourth set with a 25-19 victory. NJIT closed out the match with a 25-22 victory in the fourth set to secure the 3-1 home victory.
The Highlanders had three players reach double-digits kills -- Josh Gregg (14 kills), Antonio Feliciano (12 kills) and Alessandro Negri (10 kills). Feliciano finished the match with a .525 hitting percentage. Freshman setter Bruno Figueiredo combined for 38 assists while Negri, Figueiredo and Diego Lopez each notched five digs. Middle Braeden Goebbert and Figuiredo registered six total blocks (one solo, five assists) and Andrew Fedmasu followed closely with five total blocks (one solo, four assists).
Harvard took an early three-point advantage, 11-8, to begin the first set behind a 4-1 run. NJIT scored the next seven out of nine points, including three straight for a 15-13 lead, resulting in an NJIT timeout. After an 18-all tie, NJIT scored the final seven out of eight points to pick up the 25-20 victory.
Neither team led by more than two points and saw 14 ties throughout the set but it was the Highlanders that scored the final three out of four points to take a 2-0 lead with a 25-23 victory.
The third frame was close with neither team leading by more than one until Harvard used a late 4-1 spurt to take a 21-18 lead and finished out the frame on a 10-3 run to force a fourth set with a 25-19 victory.
The Crimson jumped out to a 9-6 lead in the fourth frame behind three straight points and pushed its lead to 16-12, resulting in an NJIT timeout. NJIT responded with four consecutive points to knot the game at 16-all. In the late teens, Harvard ahead 19-17, the Highlanders closed out the match on an 8-3 spurt to register the 25-22 victory and earn the 3-1 home win.
In pregame ceremonies, NJIT honored its six graduating seniors -- Braeden Goebbert, Alessandro Negri, Antonio Feliciano, Gil Zyndorf, Christian Trevino and Josh Gregg.
The 2025 EIVA Conference Tournament will be hosted by No. 1 Princeton from April 23-26 in Princeton, NJ inside Dillon Gymnasium.
NJIT will be the No. 2 seed and will receive a bye in the first round and face the winner of No. 3 Penn State or No. 6 Harvard April 24. The EIVA Conference finals will be April 26.
