Men's Swimming and Diving Defeats La Salle For Second Straight Win
The NJIT men's swimming and diving team picked up its second straight victory with a 179-115 home win over the La Salle Explorers Friday evening at the Wellness and Events Center Natatorium.
The Highlanders dominated the meet, winning 11 of the 16 events while increasing their total point total for the third straight dual since opening the year with 78 in a loss against Georgetown (147 vs Villanova, 170 vs St. Francis Brooklyn, 179 vs La Salle).
"This meet was a big challenge for us coming off of the three-day Bucknell Invite and going Into the Holiday break. This is a difficult time of year to stay focused on racing and training and I was very impressed with how the team responded tonight," head coach Ron Farina said of the Highlanders' performance
Joshua Franco (200 Free: 1:44.62, 100 Free: 47.24) and Ian Horstkamp-Vinekar (200 Back: 1:54.85, 100 Fly: 50.99) each claimed two of NJIT's ten individual victories while Horstkamp-Vinekar joined, Aidan Blackmon, Matthew Bevan, and Edward Madrigal in leading the Highlanders to a win in the 200 Medley Relay (1:33.51)
