Men's Soccer Sergio Martinez Cubel Named America East Co-Offensive Player of the Week
Junior Sergio Martinez Cubel has been selected America East Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Week the league office announced on Monday.
The 5-foot-8 midfielder from Sedavi, Spain, tabbed his first career America East Conference weekly honor.
Martinez Cubel scored the equalizer in the 81st minute on a penalty kick in the 2024 home opener against visiting Loyola Maryland on August 22. The goal was the first of the season and third of the career.
UMBC's Joseph Picotta was also selected America East Co-Offensive Player of the Week after heading in a cross in the 87th minute to draw even with Maryland and secure a 1-1 tie for UMBC against the Terrapins.
Martinez Cubel and the Highlanders will return to action Monday night, visiting La Salle in Philadelphia. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
