The NJIT men's fencing team captured the 2020 MACFA Championship for the second consecutive season highlighted by a first-place finish by Cristian Candescu in men's foil, hosted by Drew University Sunday afternoon.
 
NJIT registered 112 total victories, placing first in the sabre competition (38 victories) and second in foil (38 victories) and epee (36 victories).
 
Freshman Candescu from Metuchen, NJ, led the way for the Highlanders on the foil strip, placing first.  Senior Thomas Manley finished third for NJIT.
 
In the men's epee competition, Robert Hondor and Brett Bogert finished tied for third.
 
On the sabre strip, Andrew Richardson and Thomas Slawinski tied for third while Pedro D'Avila picked up a seventh place finish.
