This weekend, as many of us gather with family and friends to observe the Memorial Day holiday, let us take time to remember and honor those who sacrificed their lives while serving in the United States military.
NJIT has hundreds of students and thousands of alumni who are veterans or active members of the military, and our university has been home to Air Force ROTC Detachment 490 since 1949. The program has trained more than 1,300 ROTC students during that time, with more than 500 earning NJIT degrees. NJIT also has a long history of contributing to the military through research and technological innovation related to issues of national defense, security, resource management, and service member health and wellbeing.
So, I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to NJIT’s many veterans and current members of the Armed Forces for their service, their courage, and their selflessness. I also want to thank the families of those who serve or have served, because they share in the sacrifices made by their loved ones, and deserve our appreciation.
