Kenna Squier Signs Professional Contract to Play Basketball in Portugal
Former NJIT women's basketball standout Kenna Squier will begin her professional basketball career with Portugal's Maia Basket Clube, as she recently signed a professional contract to play with the club.
"I couldn't be more excited to have the opportunity to continue playing the sport that I love at the next level," said Squier. "Playing professionally is a dream come true and I'm so grateful for my family, friends and coaches who have helped me achieve it. My goal is to make them proud all the way from Portugal."
Squier, a two-time America East Conference selection, concluded her five-year career at NJIT with 1,417 points (DI: 2nd ; All-Time: 3rd), 10.4ppg scoring average (DI: 3rd; All-Time: 7th), .460 field goal percentage (DI: 1st ;All-Time: 2nd), 602 rebounds (DI: 4th; All-Time: 8th), 271 assists (DI: 4th; All-Time: 9th), 189 steals (DI: 1st; All-Time: 5th) and played in 136 games (DI: Tied for 1st ; All-Time: Tied for 1st).
In her final career at NJIT, she started all 30 games, averaged 8.5ppg and 3.3rpg while scoring in double-figures in 12 games and a season-best 16 points at Army West Point (11.6.23).
She scored her 1,000 point in 2022-23 at UAlbany (1.14.23) and a week later Pope John XXIII High School retired Squier's #24 jersey on January 23, 2023.
Squier, named to the Dean's List for three semesters, graduated May 2024 with an Interior Design degree.
