Kathleen Nguyendon '19 Alumni Spotlight

"I’ve been doing well as a UX Designer at Walmart technology working on AI & ML applications, designing chatbots & other AI related work. 

Since I started my career a year ago, I’ve been to two conferences sponsored by Walmart, Big Design & Grace Hopper conference. Within the first month of my career, my team and I won an internal hackathon with over 3K participants & presented to the three CEO’s of Walmart (Doug McMillian, Greg Foran, & Marc Lore). I also mentored a team or 4 women at Austin design week’s designathon & they won! We won tickets to SXSW, but unfortunately it was cancelled. I also on the Q4 automation award (only 3 winners in a department of 400) which was presented by our VP, Joe Park. I’ve worked & designed 2 released products that saved Walmart millions of dollars (1 as a lead designer for a chatbot) & recently got my yearly evaluation where I ranked as top performer! Only the top 5% of the company get the honor of being ranked that highly as the rankings go from below expectations, to meets expectations, to top performer. I am also being promoted after a year of working!"
