Historic Gift Renames College of Science and Liberal Arts

Dear Highlanders,
It is with immense pride that I announce the renaming of our College of Science and Liberal Arts to the Jordan Hu College of Science and Liberal Arts. This recognition honors a historic and transformative gift from Jordan Hu '89, founder and CEO of RiskVal Financial Solutions, LLC, and former member of NJIT's Board of Trustees.
Jordan's philanthropy represents the largest ever gift from an NJIT graduate, and will have a profound impact on our university community. It provides a significant boost to our Strategic Plan 2030 to become a Nexus of Innovation that is a physical and intellectual focal point for ideas, actions, and people focused on innovation, including researchers, learners, entrepreneurs, and partners from government, industry, and the community. His generosity will enhance STEM education and research, and create numerous scholarship opportunities for both domestic and international students. The entire NJIT family is deeply grateful for Jordan's extraordinary investment in our institution's future.
As an international student from Taiwan, Jordan earned his master's degree in computer science from the College of Science and Liberal Arts in 1989. His American dream began here at NJIT, and his success in the financial industry has been remarkable. Jordan's gift is a testament to the power of education and is a shining example of giving back to the community that nurtured his growth.
The Jordan Hu Taiwan Scholarship will support students from Taiwan pursuing degrees at NJIT, while the Hu Family endowment will provide scholarships, fellowships and crucial funding for curricular innovation and research across the Hu College’s diverse departments. These endowments will open new avenues for expanded educational opportunities, profoundly impacting the lives and careers of NJIT students for generations to come.
Please join me in expressing deepest thanks to Jordan Hu for his extraordinary support of NJIT. We will formally dedicate the Jordan Hu College of Science and Liberal Arts on Friday, Sept. 6. I invite you to join me to celebrate this momentous occasion and the bright future it heralds for NJIT.
Sincerely,
Teik C. Lim
NJIT President
