Highlanders Place Fifth in America East Walter Harrison Academic Cup
NJIT placed fifth in the 2021-22 Walter Harrison Academic Cup standings with an institutional grade point average (GPA) of 3.36, as announced by the America East Conference on Wednesday, June 29.
The Highlanders 3.36 GPA marks the 27th consecutive semester that NJIT student-athletes achieved a cumulative GPA over a 3.0.
America East Highlights Include:
- UNH and Hartford are co-winners of the 2021-22 Walter Harrison Academic Cup with institutional GPAs of 3.42.
- It's the fourth time two institutions have shared the Academic Cup (2016-17, 2014-15, 2006-07).
- America East student-athletes averaged a 3.31 GPA overall in 2021-22, the second-highest in conference history.
- All 10 America East institutions averaged better than a 3.10 GPA in 2021-22.
- It's the 17th consecutive year America East student-athletes have averaged better than a 3.0 GPA.
"Congratulations to Hartford and UNH, as well as all our student-athletes, for all their hard work during the academic year," said America East Commissioner, Brad Walker. "Our student-athletes continue to represent the best of college athletics year in and year out as they excel in balancing academics, athletics and all the rigors of being a Division I student-athlete."
