Highlanders Make ROI-NJ's Annual Power Lists

Fifteen Highlanders from New Jersey Institute of Technology are featured in ROI-NJ’s annual lists of the most powerful individuals in New Jersey.
Five of the honorees made the publication’s Super 75 list: President Teik C. Lim; Trustee Gary Dahms; Hispanic Latinx Leadership Council member Luis De La Hoz; and two members of the Board of Directors of NJIT’s New Jersey Innovation Institute: Michele Siekerka and Wesley Mathews.
Lim has raised the stature of the university by enhancing research into artificial intelligence, cultivating major donors, recruiting new leadership and leading an expansion in housing and classroom space for a growing student body.
Dahms is CEO, president and chairman of the board of T&M Associates and De La Hoz is both chairman of the Board of Directors of the Statewide Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey and regional director of community lending in New Jersey at Valley Bank. Siekerka is president and CEO of the New Jersey Business and Industry Association and Mathews is president and CEO of Choose New Jersey.
ROI-NJ described the Super 75 as “experts and success stories in their field,” adding, “They represent the definition of influence and impact.”

Associations & Organizations
Trustee and alumna Elisa Charters, NJII board member Debbie Hart and alumnus Anthony Russo. Charters, who holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from NJIT, is co-founder and president of Latina Surge, Hart is president and CEO of BioNJ and Russo, who holds a bachelor’s from NJIT, is president of the Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey.
Consultants
Alumnus LeRoy Jones. Jones, who holds an MBA from NJIT, is both chair of the New Jersey Democratic State Committee and a partner at 1868 Public Affairs.
Energy & Environment
Trustee Dennis Toft and alumnus Chao Yan. Toft is a member and chair of environmental law at Chiesa Shahinian & Giantomasi and Yan, who holds a master’s and doctorate from NJIT, is founder and CEO of Princeton NuEnergy.
Executives: National
Alumnus and Board of Trustees Chair Robert Cohen. Cohen, who holds a bachelor’s and two master’s from NJIT, is president of digital, robotics and enabling technology at Stryker.
Executives: New Jersey
Alumnus David Gockel, who is president and CEO of Langan Engineering and Environmental Services.
Real Estate
Alumnus Jeff Milaniak, who is partner for the Northeast region of Bridge Industrial.
Alumnus and Foundation Board of Directors member Marjorie Perry. Perry, who holds an MBA from NJIT, is president and CEO of MZM Construction & Management.
