Four different Highlanders scored in NJIT's 4-0 home shutout over visiting Saint Peter's Saturday evening in non-conference men's soccer action at Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium.

NJIT moved back into the win column, improving to 2-0-1 overall and 1-0-1 at home while Saint Peter's, still in search of its first win in 2024 moves to 0-4-1 on the season.

The four NJIT goal scorers on the night were: senior Asembo Augo (17'), senior Matt Moran (27'), graduate student Raz Amir (50') and freshman Andrew Araya (79').

Four different Highlanders tallied assists in the victory: Justin Aguirre-Rosas, Augo, Alvaro Heredia and Andres Lazo.

Junior keeper Devin Armstrong registered the clean sheet, stopping four shots from Saint Peter's.

How It Happened

  • NJIT struck first in the 17th minute on a long pass from Justin Aguirre-Rosas to Asembo Augo inside the box with a one-time finish to the lower right corner to give the Highlanders a 1-0 lead.
  • The home team went ahead 2-0 on a goal by Matt Moran assisted by Augo in the 27th minute. Augo headed a pass inside the box to Moran and the touch was finished with his left foot.
  • NJIT extended its lead to 3-0 in the 50th minute on a heel touch by Raz Amir from a blast by Alvaro Heredia.
  • Andrew Araya put NJIT ahead 4-0 in the 79th minute on a right-footed blast inside the box, past a diving Peacock keeper, assisted by Andres Lazo.

  • Devin Armstrong returned back in goal for the Highlanders after missing one match due to injury.
  • Last time NJIT scored four goals in a season dates back to last season when the Highlanders opened up the season 4-0 against Villanova.
