Echezuria Named to America East All-Rookie Team, Vanzomeren Selected to All-Academic Team

JC Echezuria was named to the America East All-Rookie Team, and Isaac Vanzomeren was selected to the America East All-Academic Team, the conference announced on Wednesday.
Echezuria led the Highlanders in points, goals, and assists this season, totaling 29 points with 17 goals, 12 assists while starting all 12 games. The freshman earned the America East Rookie of the Week twice. He ranked second among all America East freshmen and placed in the top 12 in the conference in several statistical categories, including points per game (2.42), goals per game (1.42), and assists per game (1.00).
Echezuria recorded five points (3 goals, 2 assists) in his collegiate debut against St. John's on Feb. 8, which is the most points scored by a Highlander in a collegiate debut in program history. He also tallied a career-high four goals against UAlbany on April 26.
Vanzomeren was named to the America East All-Academic Team for the second time in his career. He holds a 3.9 GPA while pursuing his master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) and previously graduated with a degree in Financial Technology, earning a 3.92 GPA.
On the field, Vanzomeren ranked second in the America East and 14th in the nation with 6.44 ground balls per game. He also earned the America East Faceoff Specialist of the Week on March 3. The Blaine, Minn. native recorded a career-high 11 ground balls against St. John's on Feb. 8.
