Dorm Essentials: What to bring to NJIT
Move-in day can be stressful - NJIT is here to help you to make sure that you are prepared for a fun-filled day!
Here's a list we've compiled of some essential items to help you pack for your trip to #HighlanderNation:
1. Bedside caddy.
This handy bedside caddy can hold everything you need close by - phone, chargers, tablet or laptop, glasses and remotes.
2. Space saving hangers.
#DormLife is all about saving some room in small spaces. Organize your closet and be able to store more with these space saving hangers, which can stack multiple hangers in one.
3. Drawer organizers.
These trays can be helpful in so many ways! Use them in your desk drawer, in your bathroom, or even for first aid necessities - the possibilities are endless.
4. Over the fridge storage organizer.
This convenient caddy slips right over the top of your mini fridge - which is perfect for utensil and plate storage. The heavy duty magnets will keep it in place from sliding.
5. Desk lamp with organizer with USB ports.
Why not charge your phone or tablet while sitting at your desk? Extra USB ports around the dorm will never hurt! A small storage space can keep any extra pens/highlighters you may have lying around your desk.
6. Bed desk.
Some days, working at your desk may not do it for you. Make sure you’re prepared with a laptop bed desk. With a cupholder and tablet slot included, this item will prepare you for the days you just want to work in the comfort of your bed.
7. Laptop stand.
If you have a laptop, this item will be a must-have for your desk! A laptop riser can alleviate the neck and shoulder pain caused by looking down at a screen all day.
8. Surge protectors with USB ports.
Surge protectors are allowed in the dormitories here at NJIT, and they provide you with a few more outlets for all of your technology needs!
9. Mesh shower caddy.
Shower caddies are handy since you’ll be back and forth to the shower every day - this makes it easy to carry all of your essentials in one trip. The mesh allows any water to drain so you’re not bringing in any unwanted water back into the room.
...and last but certainly not least, make sure you bring posters, wall art, or anything that gives the room a touch of you - after all, this is the spot you'll be living in for the next year, so make sure it's comfortable and welcoming for you!
