Doga Emil Named to America East All-Rookie Team

Emil Finished Third in the America East in Digs (3.86 d/s)

The America East announced its postseason women's volleyball awards on Thursday and for the third straight season, NJIT was represented on the All-Rookie Team.

Freshman libero Doga Emil was one of seven student-athletes to be named to the All-Rookie Team.

Emil played in and started 28 of the team's 29 matches while leading the Highlanders' defense this season. The Istanbul, Turkey native led NJIT and ranked third in the America East in digs, finishing the season with 3.86 d/s. Emil had at least 10 digs in 20 matches, including a season-high 23 against FDU on Sept. 6.

She joins teammate Ines Varela (2021) and Kyla Lannert (2020) as Highlanders to earn America East All-Rookie accolades.

Emil and the Highlanders won eight matches this season, the most since 2017.
