NJIT has been rated one of the country’s top colleges for animation in the 2018 Animation School Rankings published by Animation Career Review.
The online resource for aspiring animators, digital designers and game designers ranked NJIT No. 25 nationally, placing in the top 30 percent of schools considered.
Additionally, NJIT ranked second on the list of Top 5 New Jersey Animation Schools and Colleges; 14th nationally among schools and colleges with animation-related Bachelor of Arts programs; and No. 23 on the East Coast.
“We are very pleased to see that the animation component of our program has been recognized for its outstanding depth and breadth,” said Glenn Goldman, director of the School of Art + Design, which is housed within the College of Architecture and Design at NJIT.
Animation Career Review noted that the School of Art + Design offers a B.A. in digital designwith two tracks: entertainment and production. The program offers a bevy of immersive courses, including character design, character development, acting for animators, color and composition, imaginary worlds and game modification.
“Along with game design, animation is an important part of the entertainment track in digital design,” added Goldman. “As our program matures, we have more alumni working in industry and a continually increasing presence in professional organizations like SIGGRAPH that contribute to our enhanced reputation. Given our successes in this and the other Art + Design programs, it's sometimes easy to forget we are just now only 10 years old.”
