Alvaro Gimeno Earns Sports Imports/AVCA Player of the Week

Sophomore Alvaro Gimeno has been selected Sports Import/American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Player of the Week the organization announced on Tuesday.
In a 2-0 week for the Highlanders, Gimeno averaged 5.17kps, combining for a .490 hitting percentage and totaling 39.5 points.
The 6-foot-9 outside hitter notched seven service aces in the week as NJIT combined for 22 in a pair of victories over Sacred Heart and Harvard.
Gimeno posted a match-high 17 kills in NJIT's 3-0 win over Sacred Heart and 13 vs. Harvard in NJIT's second straight win of the season.
On the season, Gimeno is averaging 3.32 kills per set, 0.43 service aces per set and 4.14 points per set.
His 0.43 service aces per set ranks first in the EIVA and 3.32 kills per set ranks fifth.
NJIT, which has won the last five out of six matches, will host Penn State on Friday at 6pm on ESPN+.
