2020 Research Report Highlights Innovative Computing Research from YWCC Faculty
The Ying Wu College of Computing (YWCC) at NJIT has published its 2020 Research Report, showcasing the diverse research activities conducted by Ying Wu faculty over the past year.
Research topics span a wide spectrum of interests, from human-computer interaction to cybersecurity, data science and virtual reality. Researchers have developed deep mathematical theories, as well as very practical applications that address daily challenges such as traffic congestion, securing personal health information, and improving the speed and efficiency of cloud-based computing.
“The 2020 Research Report provides a valuable glimpse into the many different research areas in which our faculty are making important contributions,” said Ying Wu Dean Craig Gotsman. “We expect this to steadily increase as we embark on an ambitious strategic plan to double the size of the college, including its Ph.D. program and research output.”
Organizations that fund research programs appear to agree with Dean Gotsman’s assessment of the work being done by Ying Wu faculty. Between October 2019 and September 2020, the college secured more than $6 million in research funding from a variety of sponsors.
Research by Ying Wu faculty is regularly published in top venues, and in some cases patented and commercialized. The college has long been committed to sharing findings from its research beyond publication, resulting in much of the software developed made available to the general scientific community through open source repositories.
Those interested in any of the topics described in the 2020 Research Report are encouraged to reach out directly to the faculty involved for more details.
