Online education programs at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) rank among the top 100 in the country, according to the U.S. News & World Report. NJIT earned high marks across degree-granting programs in business, engineering and information technology.
NJIT's master's programs in information technology at the Ying Wu College of Computing placed at No. 38, and No. 19 for online IT programs for veterans — a category that considers financial aid benefits available to military veterans and active-duty service members.
Engineering programs placed No. 67 nationally. Through the Newark College of Engineering online learners can pursue a range of disciplines including civil, electrical and industrial engineering, as well as power and energy systems and transportation degrees.
Business and management online programs offered by the Martin Tuchman School of Management were also recognized, including its MBA program and its master's in business (non-MBA) programs, which ranked No. 96 nationally.
These results build on broader recognition of NJIT’s academic strength. In its overall rankings, U.S. News & World Report places NJIT No. 40 among public institutions nationally, and The Princeton Review lists NJIT No. 27 in the U.S. as a Best Value College.
“NJIT has spent more than a decade designing online learning that reflects the rigor, relevance and engagement we expect across the university,” said Daniel White, associate provost for Online Programs. “Our colleges continually enhance their curricula, integrate emerging technologies — including AI — and provide meaningful support to students balancing work, family and academic commitments. These rankings reinforce the quality and consistency of that university-wide effort.”
For those with busy schedules at work and at home, online courses provide greater flexibility, and faculty meet regularly with online students to provide feedback and build community. NJIT offers remote learners more than 40 nationally accredited online programs in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), at the bachelor's, master's and certificate levels.
In its 14th year, the U.S. News Best Online Programs evaluated more than 1,800 online bachelor's and master's degree programs using metrics specific to online learning. The rankings include only degree-granting programs offered primarily online by regionally accredited institutions.
"What sets the top-ranked online programs apart is their commitment to delivering flexible coursework for professionals, parents, and service members seeking to advance their careers and broaden their knowledge,” says LaMont Jones, Ed.D., managing editor for education at U.S. News. “Our rigorous evaluation focuses on student engagement and support to highlight programs truly built for the modern learner."
