The 2018 New Jersey State Budget includes a resolution to support the development of a Makerspace at NJIT. Makerspaces are increasingly becoming a significant educational, research and economic development tool for advanced manufacturing. Makerspaces include the latest technologies for preparing students to become the workforce of the future, and they bring manufacturers onto university campuses while giving them the capability to design, build and test the prototypes of their most innovative products in preparation for the marketplace. This often is done collaboratively by students, staff, faculty and industry partners. The NJIT Makerspace will be the largest one serving the State of New Jersey and will be a catalyst for economic growth, innovation, and workforce development.
