NJIT is a Top 50 Best Value College According to The Princeton Review
New Jersey Institute of Technology is one of the nation’s best colleges for students seeking a superb education with great career preparation at an affordable price, according to The Princeton Review, an honor held since 2018. NJIT ranked No. 39 as a Best Value College and No. 10 for Best Career Placement among public colleges and universities.
The Princeton Review profiles NJIT in the recently published 2021 edition of its annual guide, The Best Value Colleges. In order to make the list, institutions needed to demonstrate a stellar academic program and affordability, and offer strong opportunities for career prospects after graduation. A return on an academic investment is a highly sought-after quality. The Princeton Review’s ROI rating and selection process considers more than 40 data points covering academic offerings, cost/financial aid, career placement services, graduation rates, and student debt as well as alumni salary levels and job satisfaction.
“An education from NJIT offers an excellent return on investment and provides a pathway to career success,” said NJIT President Joel S. Bloom. “NJIT is ranked No. 1 nationally by Forbes for the upward mobility of students from the lowest income brackets. Our students have an average of approximately three job offers in hand during their senior year and attain starting salaries almost 20% above their peers across the country. And we are ranked among the top 2% out of more than 4,000 colleges and universities for alumni mid-career earnings.”
The Princeton Review announcement is further verification of the high-quality and high-value education that NJIT provides. In a recent series of commendations, NJIT has jumped 52 spots in a Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education rankings, ranked in the top third of national universities by U.S. News and World Report, and is #43 on Payscale.com’s Best Value Colleges ranking, which measures return on investment.
"The colleges that we designate as our 'Best Values' this year are truly a select group: they comprise only about 1.2% of the four-year undergraduate institutions in the U.S.," said Rob Franek, editor-in-chief of The Princeton Review. "These exceptional schools differ in many ways, yet they are alike in that all offer outstanding academics and excellent career services. As important to today's college applicants and their parents: These colleges have a comparatively low sticker price and/or generous financial aid offerings. We recommend and commend them highly for everything their administrators, faculties, staff, and alumni are doing to educate their students and to guide them to post-college success."
The Princeton Review analyzed data from its surveys of administrators at more than 650 colleges in 2019–20 as well as its surveys of students attending the schools. The company also factored in data from PayScale.com surveys of alumni of the schools about their starting and mid-career salaries as well as their job satisfaction.
