Dear NJIT Community Members,
I am both deeply saddened and gravely concerned by the actions of a violent mob attacking the United States Capitol today, as well as the deterioration of civility that has led to this moment. Today's riotous and noxious behavior, built on lies, divisiveness, and hate, requires each of us to be outpsoken as U.S. citizens strongly condeming the rhetoric and behavior that has led to today's attack and its stain on our constitution and democracy.
Most of us, in our lifetime, could never imagine today's events and the condoning of the behavior that has led-up to today's shocking scene in our U.S. Capitol. We are fortunate at NJIT, to be part of a community built upon a foundation of education, respect, concern and caring for one another that is not contingent upon faith, race, or political ideology. What we have seen today is the antithesis of democracy and patriotism. Communities such as ours must strongly reject and denounce the conduct we are witnessing today and assure that we are helping to prepare a people for our future who are civil, respectful, and ethical. We must lead by example of caring for each other at all times, but especially at times such as these. I look forward to working with you to continue to build a better, caring and ethical community.
Sincerely,
NJIT President Joel S. Bloom
